Ex-battery hens being rescued 26-27 July 2008

Date posted: Saturday 12th July
Location: Wellingborough

We are rescuing ex-battery hens and bringing consignments to Wellingborough, Birmingham and many other locations around the country

These birds are slaughtered after one year in lay, when their production drops from 6 eggs per week to 5, so they are still young birds and laying well in family terms, even though they are regarded as not commercially viable.

They make very friendly, engaging pets and are no harder to look after than rabbits. You would need to be able to collect your hens from one of our rehoming points. We charge £1 per hen as a contribution to the rescue costs. (No profit is made!)
