Position : General Manager
Reports To : Operations Manager
Summary
To be responsible for managing the restaurant in line with company standards. The individual will lead, motivate
and coach their restaurant team to deliver the company objectives. They will exceed the
customers expectations, whilst maximising sales and profits and demonstrating company values.
Job Scope
This position will work closely with their Restaurant Team, Operations Manager, Regional Chef, Head of Operations and any other members of the regional team. As appropriate it will also interact with Head Office Support Functions in HR, Finance, Marketing and Food, as well any external Agencies as required.
The position reports directly to the Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Business Performance:
Delivery of restaurant financial targets.
Optimising contribution through careful control of all costs labour, food and variables.
Regularly monitor and review business performance in line with budgets and other targets and take appropriate action without compromising the customer or restaurant standards.
Achieving budgeted levels of sales and profit.
Ensuring all financial processes and reporting requirements are managed to company standard.
Maximising profitability through sales and promotional activities.
Business planning and building.
Operate as duty manager on shifts.
Standards:
Drive excellent standards of service through leading by example and supporting the restaurant team.
Monitor and improve standards in the restaurant by using Health & Safety Audits, Financial Audits, Food Quality Audits and Mystery Diner.
Responsible for all aspects of health and safety within the restaurant.
Flawless implementation of all local and company activity.
Monitor local developments in the market place and develop plans as appropriate.
People:
Ensure the Company Vision is shared with the restaurant team and that they understand how their role contributes to the success of the restaurant.
Ensure the restaurant has a strong family tree.
Effective communication, coaching and support of the restaurant team, ensuring that team members are motivated, listened to, supported and set up for success.
Set and agree objectives, which support the needs of the business and individual capability, with all restaurant team members and management.
Manage the standards of performance of the team and take appropriate action where necessary.
Appointing internal and recruiting external candidates against the required capability, using the agreed assessment process.
Ensuring all employees have the correct right to work documentation and that company procedure is followed in relation to any ER issues.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required
The successful candidate will have experience of leading teams. They will be passionate about Customers and have a depth of understanding of how restaurants work in our market sector. They will demonstrate business and commercial aptitude as well as problem solving abilities. They will be able to demonstrate a high drive for results and ability to achieve through others. They will have good interpersonal skills and the flexibility to be able to work with diverse teams and individuals. They must have a passion for and awareness of food, quality and safety standards. They will have potential to grow and develop further.
