THE MIDLANDS MODEL ENGINEERING EXHIBITION
THE Show for Model Engineers

This event is regarded as THE Show for Model Engineers and each year attracts over 11,000 visitors. The 2009 event will be to the usual high standard and will include;
• Over forty key specialist suppliers
• Hundreds of models on display – we expect over 900 entries

• Nearly forty club and society displays
• Live track action in 7 ¼”, 16mm and Gauge 1
There are also many special attractions this year, these include;
FREE lecture programme including not only popular presenters such as Keith Hale and Malcolm High talking about silver soldering and laser cutting but new topics which include mould and pattern making as well as CAD and CNC.
In the workshop we will be presenting a new demonstrator this year, Noel Shelley who will be doing mould and pattern making as well as firing parts in a furnace at the event.
The Northern Association of Model Engineers will have a major presence at the exhibition for, in addition to their usual display stand they will be presenting the John Bertinat Collection. For the first time nearly every one of the dozens of John’s engines and designs will be on display enabling visitors to compare and enjoy his work. The Association will also be presenting a Boiler Testing Display which will illustrate their work in organising the very successful Boiler Testing Forum for their member clubs. Part of the display will feature a ‘black museum’ showing what happens to a boiler when things go wrong.
The Leicester Society of Model Engineers will be celebrating their Centenary by presenting a HUNDRER MODELS display featuring some of the very best of their member’s work over the past 100 years.
ENGINEERING IN MINIATURE, the sponsors of the exhibition will present a special display of contributor’s work with many of the models seen in the pages of the magazine on show.
Nearly forty clubs will this year be showing members’ work ranging from small stationary and IC engines, workshop equipment, right through to large locomotives and steam road vehicles and amongst them will be the GEC (Coventry) Model Engineering Society who will be celebrating their first 50 years with a special display. With more clubs participating and more models on display a visit to this year’s Midlands Model Engineering Exhibition is not to be missed.
Modellers are invited to enter their work in the sixteen competition and display classes and an entry form is available on line at www.modelengineeringexhibition.co.uk Entry is free and categories include all manner of models including locomotives, rolling stock, stationary and IC engines reflecting the variety featured in the exhibition as a whole.
