We are looking for someone who has a passion for the subject, a desire to see students succeed at all levels of ability and an ability to influence and improve the practice of other teachers.

 

Sidney Stringer School is fully committed to being in the forefront of developments in the English curriculum. There is substantial experience in the delivery of courses at Key Stages 4 and 5, and excellent links with SEN and EAL provision. We now want to build upon this foundation an English curriculum for the 21st century.

 

There are currently six full time and four part-time posts who teach English and Media, including this post. The Director for Teaching and Learning: English will be supported by this post holder and a Co-ordinator for KS3. There is also an Intervention post supported by the secondary National Strategy. The person appointed will join an enthusiastic and committed team, with a range of experience. Results at Key Stage 3 have risen each year and for 2008 the school was placed in the top 10% nationally for contextual value-added (the school was in the top 3% overall). Results at Key Stage 4 have also improved each year.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible to the Director of Teaching and Learning: English.
